The houses on the north side of Howellville Road east of the intersection with Route 252 have not changed very much in the 95 years since Lucy Sampson took the photograph above in 1910. Mostly wooden houses are now stucco. Roof structures and chimneys have changed little. Poles are still seen along the south side of the road and there are still mailboxes on the north side. Today Howellville Road is well traveled. Children can no longer play there, dogs can no longer loll there, and you can't park your horse-drawn buckboard wagon in front of your house.
