SUMMARY

The burial of either sex, as above recorded, are mainly of those who had spent their entire lives in the open air during the daylight hours and who were mostly engaged in agriculture, which is perhaps the most healthful of all occupations, especially when coupled with the temperate habits and placid poise of the Quaker.

It will be observed that slightly over 50% lived to or well past their sixtieth year, and about 35% lived to or beyond the "four score and ten years" allotted to man. Some sixty of the approximately four hundred and thirty burials of which we have full data lived to an average of eighty-four years, and seven to from ninety-one to ninety-four years. Truly a remarkable series of records.

The surnames of Welsh derivation appear only slightly less numerous than the Anglo-Saxon, while the less frequent French and Swedish family names are probably due to intermarriages. The given names on the whole lack variety: Mary, William, Anna (Ann, Anne, Annie), Sarah, Isaac, Elizabeth, Thomas, in the order named, appear most commonly.

Flags have been placed upon the graves of the following persons, nearly all of whom served in the Civil War, either in the ranks or in the hospitals: Nathan Brooke, Annie L. Caley, Cyrus H. Caley, Edward B. Conard, Daniel W. Fisher, S. Eugene Kendall, Thomas W, Kendall, Wm, Manning, Abraham Metz, Nathan Rambo, Thomas W. Richards, Benjamin Roberts, Charles Roxborough, Dr. Charles K. Thomas, Isaac Walker, Dr. James Bayne Walker, Mary B. Walker, Richard G. Walker, Henry C. Wells, and J. Leedom Worrell.

"It is my will to give them of my persuasion the graveyard that is upon my land for the use of friends forever."
