TRES DIFFERENT!

The following item, concerning the name "Tredyffrin", appeared in the March 18, 1893 issue of the Coatesville Weekly Times:

"It is said that three different townships, or parts of them, were united to form Tredyffrin Township, and the words 'three different' were contracted into ' Tredyffrin."

It's an ingeneous explanation — but quite inaccurate. The correct derivation of the name is given on the preceding page.
