Teachers at the Walker School

In the article on the Walker School in the previous Quarterly, it was reported that one of the students recalled Mrs. Mallory as one of her teachers. Actually, Jessie O. Mallory was a teacher at the North Berwyn School, and the pupil was in her class there rather than at the Walker School.

The teachers at the Walker School for its last 25 years or so were
- 1897 Miss Amelia Bell
1898 - 1907 Miss Emma Wersler
1908 - 1915 Miss Esther Busch
1917 - 1921 Miss Eleanor Wilson (Mrs. Penrose Dunworthy)
1921 - 1923 Miss Anna E. Geary (Mrs. MacDonnell)

Mrs. Mary Dewees served as a substitute, while, as noted in the article, Miss Ida Pecht and Miss Anna Newbold taught music and art, respectively, one day each week. (Elizabeth K. Weaver)

Oral History Transcripts Available in County Library

Official library releases have been obtained from all the narrators (or their descendants) who participated in an oral history project in the 1960's, under the supervision of Frances H. Ligget, at Stirling Quarters. The interviews, which included remembrances and anecdotes about the Great Valley and Valley Forge area, are now available at the Chester County Library in Exton.
