New Owner for Ford Dealership in Paoli

Matthews Ford has a new owner and a new name. George Steinmetz bought the 81-year old car dealership in April 2002 from Dick Matthews, and the name has been changed slightly to Matthews Paoli Ford.

In 1921, Walter T. Matthews established Matthews Ford, the first Ford dealership in Paoli. Jim Matthews, his nephew, took over in 1944 and ran the business until 1984. Jim Matthews' son Dick then picked up the top job. Steinmetz had been vice president and general manager for the mid-Atlantic division of Carmax, a division of Circuit City Stores. He grew up in Collegeville and is moving back to the area.
