Source: Summer 2005 Volume 42 Number 3, Page 94 In Memoriam Our community lost a direct link with its heritage on July 7, 2005 when Dorothy Pusey passed away at her home in Berwvn. She was 83 and the widow of Alfred Pusey. A member of the Historical Society from 1996 until her illness curbed her participation, she was always upbeat and optimistic about the future. Born in Berwyn, she was the daughter of Louis Wells Burns and Martha Armstrong Burns and granddaughter of William Henry Burns, one of the builders of Berwyn. Her first hand knowledge of Berwyn's early twentieth century history made her a creditable source for many a local history writer. Dorothy was educated in the local schools and graduated in 1939 from Tredyffrin Easttown High School. She assisted her husband in the family businesses, the Tydol "Flying A" gas station in Berwyn, and later the Exxon in Paoli. She was a lifelong member of Berwyn United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Mrs. Gene Williams) of Paoli, and sons Alfred (wife Peggy) of Morgantown, Glen of Berwyn, and Craig of Wellington, Florida, and by grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will miss her and her great love for sharing her knowledge of our local history. |
