Jack McCarthy, the county archivist, was the banquet speaker at the club's annual dinner last fall. His talk on the Chester County Archives / Dorothy B. Lapp Research Center is also the first article in this issue of the Quarterly. Miss Lapp, in whose honor the research center is named, incidentally, is a direct descendant of Eber Beaumont, a former owner of the once popular Stage Tavern in Easttown.

The next feature, on General Anthony Wayne's last will and estate, is based on material from the Archives. The inventory of his estate has also been very helpful in planning the furnishings for Waynesboroughby the Philadelphia Landmarks Society.

It was twenty-five years ago this March that the record snowfall fell on this area. Following a brief account of the storm, club members remember ways in which the snowfall affected them.

In contrast to some of today's prolonged and drawn-out murder trials, it took just two days for the court to hear the evidence in the trial of Jan Choqwiskie for the murder of Harry James, an Easttown farmer. (In 1909 the court also held evening sessions, however.) In the final article in this issue is a review of the circumstances of the case, the trial, and its aftermath.
