The History Club suffered a great loss with the passing of Wally Weaver on June 5, 1992, after a short illness.

He was born in Haverford 80 years ago, and was a life-long resident of our local area. He attended Radnor High School, where he excelled in football, baseball, and track, and at one time was the holder of the high school record for the 880-yard run at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

He was also a graduate of the Philadelphia School of Bible, and was an active member of the Great Valley Presbyterian Church, serving on its Board of Trustees until his death, and a Legion Honor member in the Chapel of Four Chaplains.

In addition to his interests in his church and the History Club he was a former Scoutmaster of Frazer Troop 76 and received the Boy Scout Award of Merit, was active in the Paoli Boys Club and Little League, was a member of the Paoli 290 Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and a 35-yoar veteran with the East Whiteland Fire Company.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Libby Kirkner Weaver, a son and two daughters, and seven grandchildren.

His insight into the history of our area and recollections of various townspeople and past happenings will certainly be missed.
