The names of some 30 Civil War veterans have been identified among those buried in the churchyard at St. David's Church - Radnor. The burial ground, incidentally, lies in Easttown Township. Paoli resident Bill Stroud researched the history of a number of the veterans and presented interesting biographical sketches of their lives and wartime service at a History Club meeting last year. His remarks about five of the men, who were also local residents at the time of the conflict, are given as our first feature in this issue.

Bertha Neiman served Tredyffrin/Easttown School District for an extraordinary span of 48 years, as secretary and administrative assistant to the high school principal. Her years of service spanned the tenure of five men, S. Paul Teamer, Wallace S. Brey, B. Anton Hess, Karl A. Zettelmoyer and John C. Rittenmeyer. Shortly after she retired in 1977, Miss Neiman consented to an interview about her career with the schools which was preserved on audio tape. Club member Anne Murdock transcribed the tape and earlier this year shared the recorded information with us at a club meeting. The transcription provides a unique autobiographical summation of Bertha's life, and it is included here as our second offering.

Also included in this issue is the Index to Volume XXXVIII of the Quarterly.

As the fifth anniversary of the passing of Bob Goshorn, late editor of the Quarterly, approaches, we remember his dedication to preserving the history of our community and rededicate our efforts to maintain the high standards he set for us.
