A Selection of Images from Northern Chester County

The fascinating pictorial presentation provided a visual journey back through time. Drawing on his tremendous trove of images, Mr. Martino used scores of examples that evoke our area’s rich past; from genteel street scenes, business districts, grand old homes, and many local landmarks. Current images will be introduced to illustrate the profound transformation which the decades have produced since the vintage pictures were taken. Of particular emphasis were the communities of Berwyn, Devon, Malvern, and Paoli, with additional images of Daylesford and Strafford also included.

Vincent Martino Jr. was born and raised in Phoenixville. While now working as a finance professional in the insurance industry, Mr. Martino continues to indulge his passion for local history by collecting vintage postcards and photographs of the area. His collection has been brought to life in the form of his three recent publications, Phoenixville, Images of America (2002,) Phoenixville, Then & Now (2005,) and Northern Chester County (2006,) all published by Arcadia Publishing. At the conclusion of his presentation, he was available to sign copies of his books.
