Anna Morris Holstein: Woman of Courage and Vision

by Marianne Hooper Furman

Anna Morris Holstein and Centennial Memorial Association Stock Certificate

Anna Morris Holstein was a true 19th century heroine; a woman of courage and grit, with an ability to organize and motivate her fellow citizens like no other. During the Civil War, she served as a battlefield nurse and marshalled support for the injured, and it was largely due to her efforts that Washington's Headquarters at Valley Forge was saved and the Park established. Join us to hear the story of this unsung and enterprising nurse, preservationist, author and community activist.
